I served in the Royal Navy and specialised in surveying activities, as well as the collection of meteorological data in maritime and aviation environments. Safe Seamanship was vital to all operations and I achieved the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Efficient Deck Hand Award which demonstrated my Health and Safety (HS) at Sea proficiency.

On discharge I embarked on a career in HS in the Health Care Sector with an Ambulance provider and a Consultancy, working in the NHS and private sectors. I was involved in clinical aspects of care, training, method statements, policy formulation, HS advice and CQC registration. This provided valuable experience of HS Management in diverse healthcare environments.

I developed and taught bespoke courses in a wide variety of industry settings in the HS Training Department at Europe’s largest further education establishment. Courses delivered included First Aid, Fire Awareness/Marshall, HS Awareness, COSHH, Risk Assessment and Manual Handling.

My current role allowed me to provide HS Advice and Consultancy across a diverse client base. The provision of guidance and support through such means as action planning and gap analysis to aid improvements have been outcomes that have provided partners a means of adhering to their legal, moral and financial obligations, in a simple and understandable way. I have created bespoke documents including reports, procedures, training aids and risk assessment guidance for clients.

My management responsibilities have involved development of HS service provision to enhance the client experience and provide innovative multimedia engagement tools and resources. This aids in planning and documenting compliance, HS Management, safety culture improvements, informing and instructing staff, through well designed function and simplicity for the end user.

I co-ordinate a group of national field consultants and a close knit department of Advisers in-house to ensure high quality, effective service delivery.
